ආරක්ෂකයින් විසිහතර දෙනා (The Twenty-Four Guards)

බන්ධනාගාරයක් වටා ආරක්ෂකයින් 24 දෙනෙකු, තුනකින් බැගින් වූ කණ්ඩායම් 8 ක් ආරක්ශාවට පහත රූප සටහනේ දැක්වෙන පරිදි යොදවා ඇත. සෑම පැත්තකම ආරක්ෂකයින් ආරක්ෂකයින් 9 දෙනෙකු බැගින් ඇත.

බන්ධනාගාර නීති හා රෙගුලාසිවල සඳහන් වන්නේ හරියටම ආරක්ෂකයින් 9 දෙනෙකු බන්ධනාගාරයේ සෑම පැත්තකින්ම සිටිය යුතු බවයි. කෙසේ වුවද,

1. සඳුදා රාත්‍රියේ, ආරක්ෂකයින් හතර දෙනෙක් සාදයකට හොරෙන් යති.
2. අඟහරුවාදා රාත්‍රියේ, ආරක්ෂකයින් 24 දෙනාට තවත් ආරක්ෂකයින් හතර දෙනෙක් එක් වෙති.
3. බදාදා රාත්‍රියේ ආරක්ෂකයින් 24 දෙනාට තවත් ආරක්ෂකයින් අට දෙනෙක් එක් වෙති.
4. බ්‍රහස්පතින්දා රාත්‍රියේ, ආරක්ෂකයින් 24 දෙනාට තවත් ආරක්ෂකයින් 12 දෙනෙක් එක් වෙති.
5. සිකුරාදා රාත්‍රියේ ආරක්ෂකයින් 24 දෙනාගෙන් හය දෙනෙක් සිනමා ශාලාවට යති.

ආරක්ෂකයින් කිසි විටෙකත් නීති කඩ නොකරයි. ඔවුන් මෙම අවස්ථා කළමනාකරණය කරන්නේ කෙසේද?

A prison is surrounded by 24 security guards. They are arranged in groups of three, as shown in the figure below. There are 9 guards on each side. Prison rules and regulations state that there must be exactly nine guards on each side of the prison. However,

1.      On Monday night, four guards sneak into a party.

2.      On Tuesday night, four more guards will join the 24 guards.

3.      On Wednesday night, eight more guards will join the 24 guards.

4.      On Thursday night, the 24 guards will be joined by 12 other guards.

5.      On Friday night, six of the 24 guards go to the cinema.

The prison guards never break the rules. How do they manage it?
